Chapter 00.001 || Gen 00 || Chapter 00.003

How hard could it possibly be to find some magical kelp in a cave? I was confident that I’d be in and out and have a tail before I could even say “mermaid!”

But it soon turned out to be easier said than done. I’d only been inside the cave for maybe an hour when something wet and squishy flopped onto my shoulder. It wiggled around and started to wrap around me. When I felt the suckers, I realized what it was.

“KRAKEN!” I screamed, running away as fast as I could. “HEEEEELLLLLP!”

I stumbled blindly through the dark cave, trying frantically to find my way out. Sheer terror overwhelmed me, and I may have had a bit of a bladder failure by the time I stumbled into the daylight.

Okay, maybe it was more than a bit of a bladder failure. I was still a bit shaken by the Kraken encounter, but I knew I had to go back into the cave to find that kelp. Just… not right now. Not while I was dirty and smelly. I needed a shower. I’d seen a waterfall on the way to the cave, so perhaps now was a good time to check it out.

It was a long walk to the waterfall, and by the time I finally found it, the sun was starting to go down. It was still warm though, and the heat was making me sweat. The sweat mixed with the muck on my body was not a very pleasant experience, and when I saw the waterfall I almost cried from relief.

Oh, how good that shower felt! The water was so cool and refreshing and it cleaned me off surprisingly well. As I showered, I couldn’t help singing an old sea shanty I’d heard once when I was a kid. I didn’t remember all the words, but I certainly remembered the tune.

Once I was nice and clean, I felt a lot calmer. I decided it was time for me to go back and get that kelp. I needed it to become a mermaid!

But first, I was hungry. I needed some food. The sun was going down by now, and I hadn’t had a bite to eat all day. Luckily I had a lunchbox with some tuna sandwiches packed inside.

Would it be weird for a mermaid to eat tuna? I mean, technically mermaids weren’t fish! They were occult sims! Surely it would be fine for them to eat fish! Besides, what else would a mermaid eat in the ocean? Kelp? Maybe if they were vegetarians, I suppose.

Well, I suppose it didn’t really matter at the moment. Right now I was still a human. A boring, ordinary human sim. So it was fine for me to eat fish. I found a nice little picnic table nearby and ate a delicious tuna sandwich.

After dinner, I mustered up the courage to finally go back inside the cave. No more procrastination allowed! I had some mermadic kelp to find!
