Chapter 01.001: Arrival In Willow Creek

Gen 01 || Chapter 01.002

Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child. And I, unfortunately, know that all too well. My parents were… not very nice people. They treated me more like a servant than a daughter, while my golden child twin brother was spoiled rotten. I really, really don’t wanna talk about all the horrible things they did to me. All I’ll say is that I will never treat my own children the way they treated me.

As soon as I aged up into a Young Adult, I left my childhood home in Sunset Valley and made my way across SimNation. I did odd jobs here and there, and by the time I arrived in Willow Creek I had saved up a decent amount of money. I was able to afford a spacious plot of land and a few living essentials. I might have also bought a cool looking knight statue from a yard sale too. My new home would need some decoration, after all!

My new home didn’t have an actual house, but I was able to contact a construction company to get started on building a small home. I didn’t have the funds necessary to pay the company, though. So I took out a loan to pay them so they’d get started.

Of course, I’d need to pay off the loan as soon as possible, so I looked online to see if there were any jobs available. I noticed an ad in the classifieds for an assistant dishwasher at the local Make A Dish. I’d always liked the idea of working in a culinary career, so I thought, Why not?

Make A Dish must’ve been pretty desperate for assistant dishwashers, cuz I was hired on the spot. It made me wonder if I’d made a mistake in applying, but I needed a job. If it turned out this job wasn’t worth the pay, I could always just apply to a new job.

My first shift wasn’t until Monday, so I decided to spend some time exploring my new home. There was a lovely lake in front of my plot of land, perfect for fishing. And fishing equipment was quite cheap. I decided to try my luck and see if I could catch anything. I always did love fishing!

It seemed that I wasn’t the only person who wanted to take advantage of the nice spring weather and do some fishing. A sharply dressed man came along half an hour after I caught my first bass. He seemed familiar, though I couldn’t remember where I’d seen him. He didn’t seem to have nearly as much luck fishing as I was having. I caught quite a few fish, and even reeled in a chest with a voodoo doll in it, while the sharply dressed man caught nothing.

After some time I tired of fishing, and decided to do some more exploring. There were so many things to see! I found some fossils, some metals, and even some snapdragons! Selling these collectibles would help me pay off my loan for the construction of my house, so I wandered around the neighborhood looking for everything I could gather and sell.

The only downside to my lack of house was the significant lack of a toilet and my significant need for one. But where there’s a will there’s a way, and there was a bush on my property. It wasn’t ideal, but it would have to do for now.

Ew! That was so gross and uncomfortable! Hopefully I wouldn’t have to do that too many more times. Ew, ew, ew! I really needed a home!

I had sold everything I’d found except for a couple of frogs, which I decided to breed for more money, and some snapdragon flowers. I decided that it would be easier to make more money if I had more money-making resources, so I planted the snapdragons. They would grow more snapdragons, which I could then sell for even more money.

Well, I’d had a good time exploring my new home, but now I needed to work on my daily work task. All jobs had them, and for an assistant dishwasher, the daily task was to food or mix drinks. I decided to head to Crawdad Quarter, the commercial district of Willow Creek, and made my way to the Blue Velvet nightclub.

I immediately regretted my decision the moment I walked into the building. There was blues music playing on the stereo, and I hated blues music. Oh, Watcher, it was awful!

I did my best to ignore the ear-grating blues music, and headed to the bar area of the nightclub. The mixologist was nowhere to be found, so I stepped behind the bar and began making my favorite drink, a wrench. It wasn’t the best wrench, but at least I made some progress on my daily task.

When the mixologist arrived, however, I had to step away from the bar. The mixologist gave me a dirty look as I passed her. What? It wasn’t like I was stealing her customers! And I paid for the drink I made, even if someone else stole it.

Honestly, I wasn’t too happy that someone had stolen my drink. But I decided to be nice and chat with him. Who knows, maybe he’ll turn out to be my soulmate!

“Hi, I’m Allison Plummley!” I said, smiling at the man. “What’s your name?”

“Beckett Winters,” the man muttered. “Watcher, your drinks are terrible! Do you even know how to make a proper wrench?”

“Well, it wasn’t supposed to be for you,” I pointed out. “It was supposed to be for me!”

“Well, you should do better,” Beckett sniffed dismissively. “Nobody wants a wrench without enough orange!”

Okay, this guy was too Mean and High Maintenance to be a good partner. He seemed like a Perfectionist, too! I was about to excuse myself, but he got up and left the nightclub without a word. Rude!

Oh well. I needed to get back to my new home anyway. I would need to be up bright and early to head on out to my first day of work tomorrow! So I made my way home, and climbed into my sleeping bag.

It was an interesting start, at least.
