Chapter 01.003 || Gen 01 || Chapter 01.005
Ailsa immediately went to look for Geoffrey. He needed to know he would be a father. Hopefully he was okay with that, because Ailsa didn’t even have a house, much less money to pay for a baby.
She found Geoffrey just as the last hour call for GeekCon rang out. Ailsa wasted no time at all, “Geoffrey, you’re going to be a father.”
“WHAT?!” Geoffrey was furious. “You can’t be serious!”
“I am serious,” Ailsa’s heart sank at Geoffrey’s reaction. “We didn’t use protection, remember?”
“Oh plum… Nancy’s gonna kill me!” Geoffrey groaned, and Ailsa froze. Nancy? Wait… Geoffrey and Nancy… “Oh my Watcher! You’re Geoffrey LANDGRAAB, aren’t you?! If I had known that I never would’ve agreed to meet you!”
“Well, you can deal with the kid yourself!” Geoffrey snapped. “I’m not leaving my wife for you! She’s got money! Like, filthy rich money! And you’re just a homeless girl, even if you are prettier than her!”
“I’ll tell her,” Ailsa said. “I’ll tell her about your affair!”
Geoffrey scoffed, “No, you won’t. Nancy’s a dangerous Minor Crimelord, you won’t dare tell her for fear of what she’ll do to you.”
“Except for one little detail,” Ailsa responded, “I have my phone set to record all calls! I’ll give Nancy the recording!”
“Liar,” Geoffrey sneered, “Why would you record your phone calls? I’m calling your bluff!”
“I’m not bluffing,” Ailsa snapped. “You live in Oasis Springs, everyone knows that! I’m taking the next train to Oasis Springs!”
Before Geoffrey could respond, Ailsa stormed off. She didn’t know how Nancy would react to the news or the phone recording, but she had to do the right thing and tell her. The next train to Oasis Springs didn’t leave until the next morning, so Ailsa spent the night sleeping on a bench in San Myshuno.
Geoffrey noticed her later that evening as he was leaving, and he smirked. But Ailsa would soon wipe that smirk off his face. Because as soon as she woke up, she made her way onto the train to Oasis Springs.
The Landgraabs had a very nice house, and Ailsa was quite envious of their wealth. It made her so mad that Geoffrey was living in such luxury while she and their child would be living on the streets. Oh, but she knew she could exact justice on him.
As she made her way to the front door, Ailsa noticed Geoffrey passing by through the glass. He did a doubletake, and his jaw dropped in horror as he recognized her. He rushed outside and dragged her away from his house.
“What the plum?! Why are you here?!” he hissed. Ailsa raised her eyebrow, “I already told you. I’m going to tell your wife about your affair, and give her the phone recording.”
“You don’t have a phone recording!” Geoffrey growled. “I’m calling your bluff!”
“I don’t bluff,” Ailsa said, pulling out her phone and bringing up the recording. She pressed play, and Geoffrey’s face went white as the entire phone call played.
“What will it take for you to keep your mouth shut?” Geoffrey asked quietly. “Money? Child support? A mansion? I’ll give you anything, just don’t tell Nancy!”
Ailsa yawned. “I sincerely doubt you could get away with giving me any of that without alerting your wife.”
“Look, I have a mansion in Willow Creek that she doesn’t know about,” Geoffrey pleaded. “It was a gift from one of my woohoo partners at work! You can have it, and I’ll pay you child support! Just because I married into wealth doesn’t mean I don’t have my own career that pays well!”
Ailsa scoffed, “Do you really think I’m stupid enough to believe you?” To which Geoffrey pulled out his own phone and showed her a set of texts. Sure enough, he really did have a woohoo partner who gave him a mansion. Or at least that’s what the texts claimed.
At this new knowledge, Ailsa hesitated. Yes, she did know that telling Nancy the truth would be the right thing to do. But everyone knew that Nancy was both Evil and a minor crimelord. For all Ailsa knew, she might punish her for the affair, despite the fact that she hadn’t known that the wealthy weirdo she was meeting with was married.
And Ailsa was still homeless right now. She didn’t want her child to live on the streets. And Willow Creek was far enough from her old home that she could settle down there. And… well, Ailsa had always dreamed of living in a mansion. After a long moment of consideration, she scowled.
“Fine!” she spat. “I’ll take your offer. But I swear, if you go back on your word…”
“Just don’t tell Nancy, and the mansion and child support are yours!” Geoffrey pleaded. “Actually, don’t tell anyone, and I’ll give you my gold card. I’ll put §10,000 on it every Monday for you, in addition to the child support!”
He pulled out his wallet and held out a gold credit card. Aisla stared at him in silence. Truthfully, while she wanted to take it, she wasn’t so sure it was a good idea. He might turn around and accuse her of stealing it from him! After a long silence, she spat out, “Keep your plumming card. But I expect the child support payments! And I’m taking the mansion. The baby will need a roof over its head.”
“I’ll call for a limo to take you to Willow Creek right away,” Geoffrey promised. “I’m sure you’ll love the mansion! It’s got ten bedrooms and seventeen bathrooms, plus a nursery and all kinds of activities! You’ll love it so much that you’ll never want to leave!”
True to his word, Geoffrey called a limo, and sent Ailsa on her way. Ailsa really didn’t know what to think at this point. Her gut still told her that this was the best possible outcome for this situation. But she couldn’t stop second-guessing herself. Yes, she had always dreamed of living in a mansion, but for all she knew Geoffrey could’ve been lying to get her out of the picture. What if he gave the limo driver instructions to dispose of her?
But all her worries and doubts left her when the limo pulled up in front of a massive mansion. She stepped out and stared up at her new home.
“Oh. My. Watcher.”
